DOH!

It dawned on me this week that I have yet to introduce you to my book cover! Let me just say I LOVE my cover. At first, I thought, "wow, it's a little . . . bright . . ." after walking through the teen section of Barnes and Noble, but then I heard Candace's explanation. Basically, if you see an entire section full of books with dark, simple covers, and then you see this, which one is going to jump out at you?

Exactly. Thus, the beautiful, bright color.

Another odd note that the brilliant artist Cash Case, did NOT know is found in looking at the book title. The top blue, the dark, sapphire blue color? That's my VERY favorite color. But if you look at the bottom half of the title it's a much lighter, almost aqua shade of blue. That is my mom's favorite color and that color is peppered throughout the entire cover. It's like having a piece of my mom right there with me on the front.

I love it. Thanks, Cash, for creating something so beautiful, something I'll be proud to have represent all the years of words in the story. You rock, man!

P.S. It's not to late to enter the birthday drawing by adding memories or stories of me, or qualities you admire. Add them to this post. Or add them to the end of the current post. I'll be doing the drawings on November 14th.

i've told you before that i'm excited, but even more so now. It's getting so real :) Congrats!

So, a birthday drawing? Memories or things i admire?

Mmmmmm... just kidding :)
i'll never forget the very first thing that you did for me. you were concerned enough for a newbie-writer (that you didn't even know) to help pay the way to Storymakers conference. Course, you didn't end up needing to, but you offered. :) And hey, you always say "hi" to me. That's cool. You'd be surprised how many people don't. "thanks for noticing me." hehehe

There isn't enough room in this comment box to list all the happy times we've shared, even if they were a brief chat on the computer. I think the one I remember the most, though, is when you saw the first sketch of one of your characters drawn by Cash Case. You were so excited to see her come to life. All your tears were happy tears.

Love ya. Happy Birthday!! Wish I were there to give you big hug.

Blues are my favorite colors, too, Karen. I love your book cover and I am sure the book will be a delight to read! Cash did an excellent job in his creation of the cover of "The Sapphire Flute Book Launch".

BTW - Gorgeous cover, Karen!

My favorite memory - The look on your face when you were the grand prize winner at last year's storymakers conference. It was priceless! I remember talking in the hall about our awards. You are so humble, but so sparkly fun. I love it.

Karen--Happy Birthday!
Your cover looks awesome!
You are such a kind and sincere person. I admire you and am glad to be your friend.
I remember when I first got to know you a little better--at the BYU children's writer's conference--I was pregnant and you offered to give me a little massage while we had a break. You have so many talents! You deserve all the success that's coming your way. :)

I do think it's very very very CATCHY! And yes, people STILL judge a book by its cover no matter what we've been taught as children (don't judge a book by its cover). And I definitely feel it will be picked!

I LOVE IT!

Happy Birthday, Karen. I know you only through ANWA Social, but would like you to know how deeply moved I have been by the deep love you have shown for your mother. You are a woman to be admired and, I'm sure, your life is a tribute to her, as well.

I remember driving to Provo from Tooele for lunch with Tristi I think. You were wearing two sets of glasses and we were talking about your faerie inthe computer book. I remember laughing and just being generally happy that I was with my cool writer friend.

We haven't met yet but I have to say I am impressed with your acomplishments. You have a great looking book coming out so soon you can taste it and you are well on the way to your next one. Just those two things alone should make this a very happy birthday. Congrats!
