Back to the Book

I'm heading out of the house to get some writing done today. I don't know why, but it's always easier for me to write in a public place. Probably less distractions pulling me away from the writing, you know, things like . . . oh, laundry, dishes, that sort of thing. I'll report in later on how much I got done. I'm hoping for two to four thousand words today, so I'd better get started!

Sure do wish there was a Barnes and Noble or cafe around here . . . .

do you know what I think we should do? I think a bunch of us writers should get a grant for the arts - then invest in a writers clubhouse! We could get vendors to keep it stocked with munchies and drinks, have desks and office chairs, and comfy couches and bean bags -- with shelves full of books about writing and all that. Once a month, we could hold meetings there for anyone who cared to come - or sublet it to writing groups for a small fee per meeting to defray costs. Would that not be awesome?

So? How did you do? And what story are you working on?

Wendy, I LOVE that idea. What a dreamhouse. *sigh*

Ali, I didn't get my thousands of words on the actual story written, but I'm doing lots of background and fleshing out of plot and characters. So, I wrote, it's just not stuff that will actually be in the story. lol I'm working on "Shadowmage", which was my second place winner in the Storymakers contest two years ago.

Love the clubhouse idea! Let me know if it happens...

I often take my computer to the library and go into the middle-grade children's section during school hours. Seldom anyone there. But with summer nearly here, that probably won't help you much right now.
